Installation

1- Get to https://openvpn.net/community-downloads/ and download OpenVPN Connect Windows installer (NSIS) for your version of windows

(The rest of the installation will be performed on W7 on a wire Network Interface)

2- Save OpenVPN Connect Windows installer locally on your PC

3- Launch OpenVPN Connect Windows installer

4- Accept the licence agreement

5- Uncheck the ‘OpenVPN Service’ component (This service is running on your dedicated server on Europamente side)

= You only need the TAP Virtual Ethernet Adapter and OpenVPN GUI

6- Select default install location

7- Wait for the installation to proceed

8- Install the TAP Virtual Ethernet Adapter provided by OpenVPN

9- Wait for the installation to complete

10- Uncheck ‘Show Readme’ and click Finish

11- Double-click on the new OpenVPN GUI icon on your desktop (it will launch the OpenVPN GUI in the background)

12- Check that the OpenVPN GUI application has been launched successfully by looking at its small icon in task bar.

(It looks like a PC screen with a small padlock)

(You may have to click on the small arrow in task bar in case it is hidden)

13- In Windows task bar settings, configure the OpenVPN GUI icon & notifications to be always displayed

(It will ease the use of OpenVPN connect)

Configuration

1- From task bar, right-click on OpenVPN small icon to display the interative menu

2- Click ‘import file’ and then select the ovpn configuration file that you have received by email from Europamente (Subject:’Your Europamente order is now complete’, Sender: sales@europamente.com) and that you have previously stored locally on your PC

(In current example, the file is called cl626321-1.ovpn and is stored in Downloads)

3- Your VPN connection is now available to use

Use

1- To start a VPN connection, from task bar, right-click on OpenVPN small icon to display the interative menu and select ‘Connect’

2- A new window appears with logs flowing while making the VPN connection. It should take less than 10 seconds depending of your internet connection

(The top left icon of this window and OpenVPN small icon in task bar are yellow)

3- Once the VPN connection is made, the logs window gets minimized. OpenVPN small icon in task bar is green and successfull connection notification is shown

4- Once connected, all your intenet traffic is routed through the VPN

5- To stop VPN connection, you can right-click on OpenVPN small icon in task bar to display the interative menu and select ‘Disconnect’

6- To stop VPN connection, you can also display the window with logs by selecting ‘Display status’ and then Click on ‘Disconnect’
